Director of Business Development

 

Empirical Path seeks a Director of Business Development with strong new business skills, an understanding of web analytics, and experience selling to online marketers to support our offices in Atlanta, GA and Albuquerque, NM. Remote candidates will also be considered.

 

Empirical Path is a web analytics and market research consultancy that has served dozens of media, not-for-profit, ad agency, consumer product, and other clients since 2002. We are experiencing rapid growth as a Certified Partner of Google and Yahoo!.

 

Responsibilities

The Director of Business Development is responsible for establishing consulting engagements for Empirical Path to implement, customize, and provide insights from web analytics tools to help our clients understand their audiences, enhance their digital user experience, and increase their online conversions.  The Director will:

  • Obtain new clients, and additional projects from existing clients, for Empirical Path’s web analytics and market research professional services.
  • Identify potential clients (prospects) via industry events, periodicals and websites; mailing, phone, and email lists; his or her own professional network; and other channels.

  • Contact and cultivate prospects, taking into consideration each prospect’s potential needs, goals, and budgets.

  • Present and market Empirical Path’s services and successes to prospects, at times in conjunction with Empirical Path consultants.

  • Prepare business proposals and identify scopes of work for new clients.

  • Ensure continued client satisfaction, occasionally serving as primary liaison with clients.

  • Provide input in a team fashion regarding changing and developing the company’s offerings and marketing, taking into consideration market conditions.

  • Represent Empirical Path and its services in a competent, professional and responsive manner.

  • Other such duties as may be requested and mutually agreed from time to time.

 Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience generating new business for providers of professional services.
  • Relationships with marketing, market research, and/or online publishing decision-makers.
  • Understanding of approaches to and benefits of web analytics and other digital measurement. 
  • General understanding of website design and online marketing channels including PPC, SEO, affiliate programs, social media, email, partnerships, etc.
  • A dedicated, quiet work area with phone and high-speed web connectivity.
  • Availability during eight continuous hours of your choice from 8 a.m. ET to 8 p.m. ET.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Skills

  • College degree or MBA.
  • Web analytics certification or other training.
  • Ability to create case studies, blog posts, newsletter articles, proposals, and other collateral.
  • Proven written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint.
